Grillo is a Sicilian grape variety that was once widely grown on bush-vines and used in the production of Marsala, the island's famous fortified wine. The grape is still extensively grown on Sicily. It is now more common to find Grillo produced as varietal wine.
Its origins are uncertain, but it may have been introduced into the island of Sicily from Puglia. It was already widely planted in the Province of Trapani by 1897.
Characteristics: Has an intense straw yellow color with greenish reflections. Its bouquet consists of notes of apple, peach, banana, pineapple, pink grapefruit and citrus. This wine has great personality. A pleasantly soft taste that is rich and fragrant.
